Craigbeg Forest Visit
Craigbeg Forest: Forestry Visit 11th September 2017
Stellar Asset Management visited Craigbeg Forest on the 11th September 2017.
The forest is located 15 miles southwest of Aberdeen, Scotland, is 178.8 hectares in total and forms part of a larger commercial woodland complex which was principally planted in 1981.
The pictures below show the area of 24 hectares that was re-planted in January 2017. It has had a suitable first year’s establishment. What was especially notable was the prolific natural re-generation of the area and this will make up for any losses from negative environmental issues that may occur.
Parts of the forest are due to be felled within the financial year 2018-19, where it is hoped to generate a good income return.
Due to the forest being a very compact planting age of between 1929-1983, a drone survey will be carried out and then a more detailed evaluation undertaken, which will help structure the best approach to achieve the maximum harvesting proceeds.
